On October 24, 2024, the Strategeo Institute and Anglo-American University (AAU) co-hosted their inaugural public debate on the American elections. The event brought together a diverse panel of experts who engaged with a distinguished audience of diplomats, experts, academics, and Czech and American students.
Set in AAU's elegant campus on Letenská Street, the debate explored critical topics including the roots of societal polarization and the potential impact of different election outcomes on Trans-Atlantic relations, covering both security and economic dimensions. The event featured spirited discussions, with audience members actively participating through numerous questions and engaging exchanges with panelists.
The distinguished panel included:
- Tomáš Klvaňa, Visiting Professor at New York University in Prague
- Ondřej Hejma, translator, columnist, and musician
- George Hays II, professor at Anglo-American University
- Gwyneth Holcomb, Anglo-American University student
- Jan Machacek, moderator and president of the Strategeo Institute
This debate marked the launch of the Strategeo Institute as an independent platform. Building on this success, we are pleased to announce the second debate in the series, scheduled for November 19 at AAU. The upcoming event will focus on post-election developments in the United States and their implications for the U.S. economy, global markets, and transatlantic economic and trade relations.
